I have worked at the University of Leeds as a Nurse lecturer since 2001. I work part time on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. This gives me a good work life balance with my Gorgeous children!
Much of my work experience has been in voluntary sector services and I am committed to promoting networking and workforce development across all learning disability services. I am proud to be a nurse and recognise the valuable skills that this profession provides.
I enjoy teaching in all areas of The curriculum but am passionate About developing knowledge and Research around person centred Approaches. I have contributed to Local services and the partnership Board in developing this.
I have recently finished my teaching certificate and have gone Straight on to study for a Masters degree in social research. I Hope this will enable me to promote research in the learning Disability field. Subjects I am interested to develop are the Under utilisation of person centred approaches and the support Available to women with learning disabilities experiencing domestic Violence.
I have supported students to develop CV’s To promote communication in placement Areas. I have presented work on this at Various conferences including NNLDN and ARC.
I am committed to positive Choices and looking forward to Cork 2009!
